FIRE Foundation
executive director
Kansas City, MO
Lynn is the executive director of the FIRE Foundation, an organization founded in 1996 to support inclusion in Catholic schools in the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph in Missouri. She oversees all advocacy and fundraising initiatives for FIRE. Since its inception, FIRE has granted nearly $3.5 million to Catholic schools that embrace inclusive learning practices. Grants are used to pay salaries of special educators, para-professionals and to expand access to learning technologies that support students' success. FIRE also supports professional development opportunities that expand educators' understanding and expertise of best practices in inclusive education. Without support from the FIRE Foundation, it is difficult for Catholic schools in the Diocese of KC-SJ to welcome students with significant intellectual disabilities. The organization strives to light the way so children of all abilities are able to grow together in knowledge, faith and friendship.
Lynn has an extensive background in marketing, fundraising and nonprofit management. She is deeply committed to inclusive practices and believes inclusion is a mandate of the Catholic faith. She dreams of a day when every child, at every level of ability, is welcomed and celebrated at every single Catholic school. Lynn is pleased to co-present with Anthony Armitage, founder of One Classroom, a St. Louis-based organization with a focus similar to that of FIRE.
