This session will demonstrate an innovative approach to creating a video prompting strategy of academic skills using an affordable tablet application in inclusive classrooms. Development of videos included the collaboration with stakeholders (e.g., paraprofessionals and teachers) based on students??? current IEP goals and material presented in the inclusive classroom. Paraprofessionals assisted in the development, creation, and implementation of the video prompting strategy. Results from research will be used to illustrate how the tablet app can be used to teach academic skills to elementary students with autism and intellectual disabilities in collaboration with paraprofessionals. ??? Participants will learn how to use an affordable tablet app to create and use video models for the purposes of teaching new skills to students with autism, increasing student independence, and decreasing student prompt dependency. ??? Participants will explore various practical issues related to creating video models (e.g., creating meaningful videos, embedding video modeling into inclusive classrooms, collaborating with all stakeholders). ??? Participants will learn insightful applications of this intervention and recommendations for their practice (e.g., skills that are feasibly taught using this method, tips to collaborate with paraprofessionals and general education teachers).
