Research indicates that although much is known about how to implement successful inclusion and why it is worth implementing in the first place, general education students and special education students have remained in predominantly separate classrooms for over three decades. This qualitative study is designed to explore what would make it worth the commitment and effort of stakeholders to sustainably and successfully merge compartmentalized school settings into more holistic learning environments. After this session, participants will be able to: a. identify 3 main ways educational leaders can support sustainable change in inclusive settings b. summarize why some settings are more successful than others in creating a sense of inclusion c. use theories of new science to view education through a new and more holistic lens
